The Inaugural Africa Defence Industries Conference will take place alongside the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) from 14th-15th August 2024, at the Shehu Musa Yar`Adua Centre, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with the theme: “DICON @60: Future Frontiers in Africa’s Defence Technology”.
The 2-day event is designed to be the largest gathering of defence industry stakeholders in Nigeria and Africa, attracting over 3,000 local and international participants, from over 30 countries. The event will focus on defence exhibitions, investment opportunities, industrial partnerships, and future developments in the African Defence Industries.
It will feature a distinguished faculty of knowledgeable speakers and resource persons from within and outside Africa, government officials, military personnel, commercial exhibitors, industry leaders, business networking opportunities, and sessions on market trends and commercial strategies in the African defence sector.
It will also host a Defence Innovation Challenge targeted at harnessing young startups that can build solutions within the defence industries space.
To celebrate DICON'S 60 years of achievement in the defence industry, showcasing innovations and strengthening relationships among key stakeholders to attract potential partnerships and investment opportunities.

Felix Orevoghene Alaita is a retired Army Colonel with 3 decades plus of extensive military and governance experience in Nigeria. He offers a unique perspective on Africa's developmental challenges. Post-military career, He served as a Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria, focusing on Country Risk Assessment and Evaluation. Alaita played a significant role in passing Nigeria's first-ever Startup Act and led the development of the Creative Industries Development Bill in Nigeria which was instrumental in the founding of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy. He actively speaks on public policy and strategy, within the creative, tech, and military sectors at various continental platforms such as AFREXIMBANK’s IATF/CANEX, Africa Tech Festival, AU/APRM, Africa Startup Conference, WPP’s Stream Africa, AfIELN, and more. Ajuma Ataguba is a global startup ecosystem leader and angel investor.
An experienced business development and management consultant with over three decades of experience in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, impact investment and international trade.
She is currently the Managing Director of the Founder Institute (Abuja), the world's largest pre-seed startup accelerator founded in Silicon Valley in 2009 by Adeo Ressi and Jonathan Greechan,and since 2020 she has led the operations team in Abuja, Nigeria to launch 70+ SAAS technology startups with a mentor network of over 200 CEO mentors.
